I often wonder where my week has gone as I sit in front of the TV on a Sunday night watching Master Chef... do you guys ever wonder what I get up to? Here's a little sneak peak... my last week in summary :)
Monday - The day is spent at work and I pick up fresh ingredients (butter, cream, eggs) I need for my cakes during my lunch break. At night I prepare the decorations for the weekend cakes. This week it's an all out bling sign for Suren's birthday and some fashion inspired cupcake toppers.
Tuesday - Another day at work. Caught up with a friend for dinner tonight while the boyfriend started on some of the baking - a red velvet cake (yum!). Get home and continued to finish off the cupcake toppers. Made the lemon ganache for the cakes as they need to rest overnight.
Wednesday - Work again during the day and baked the cupcakes for Friday's order when I get home. Started ganaching Suran's birthday cake and headed over to Lilia's (My Sweethearts Bakery) place to borrow some supplies (thank you!) and have a good ol' chat :) Us cake designers tend to get carried away with cake talk when we catch up.
Thursday - Do I need to mention I spent the day at work? Rushed off to Volleyball after work and started on the cupcakes when I got home. Luckily most of the 3D designs are already done so I just had to finish off the overall design. The boyfriend also started baking Aaliyah's cake for Sunday.
Friday - Work again! Friday night is the night when everything all comes together. The cupcakes get picked up and Suran's cake gets covered and painted in a vibrant orange and red. And then it gets covered again and the contemporary circle patterns get cut out.
I'm not usually a fan of orange but I loved how the bright colours of this cake just seem to shine through the white blanket. And the bling sign... oh, I was nervous about it staying up right, but it all worked out in the end :)
Saturday - Suren's cake gets delivered and then it was time for a consultation. The lovely lady wanted to order a cake for her daughters birthday. I'm so excited about the design idea!
In the afternoon Helena and Danielle came for the beginners cupcake decorating workshop.
This is the first time I ran one with a structured design and the ladies did so well! I was so impressed by what they achieved and so were they.

At night, went to my friend's place and to pick up some of her clothes (she's moving and needed somewhere to store them). Treated myself to some San Churros (yummy, crunchy doughnut sticks dipped in milk chocolate.... mmmm) and picked up dinner.
Got home and started (and finished) Aaliyah's cake. I love playing with my airbrush :)
Sunday - Aaliyah's cake gets delivered and got some attention from all the little kids as we walked through Lunar Park. It's so exciting to see the shocked faces and hear all the kids chatter 'wow is that a cake?!'.
I'm not a fan of plastic figurines on cakes but it's what Aaliyah wanted, she even bought them and posted them to me :) But surprisingly I really liked this cake (the boyfriend also declared it one of his favourites!), the figurines and colours all worked out really well.
Then it's home time and time to wrap up the week... replying to emails and working out next week's schedule! Oh, and watching Masterchef :)
